R.I.P Guai Guai

gouramidiedObituary for ‘Guai Guai’ Honey Gourami.

“I came to know you in January when we first started owning pets. You were a shy little honey gourami who hide behind plants when we change water and charged up front when we feed. I didn’t care much about you because you weren’t my choice of fish. As time went by, you learnt that we were your owners and when we moved near the tank, you would be excited waiting for food. When others moved on, I grew to like you more and more. We always call you ‘guai guai’ because you were gentle and constantly bullied by ‘feisty’.When you were chased by ‘feisty’, we would worry for you. Lately,  I was happy to see that you have grown bigger and could hold your own. You were no longer being bullied. Just when I thought you two were our tank’s longest surviving fish and we would have you for many more years, this accident had to happen. If not, you would have been with us for a long time. Rest in Peace, guai guai.”

  1. It was really a sad loss for me too. I thought he would recover after his external wounds started to heal, thanks to the daily dosage of Melafix, an effective medicine for external injuries.

I did have my suspect that he was not doing so well after seeing him refuse to eat any of the food we have given him. He could be suffering from some internal injuries too…

Soon after his death, we noticed that the remaining pair of gouramis in the main aquarium started to be intimate, and even started mating to give birth to a new generation.

It struck me that this is just part of Life and Death. Life moves on…

  2. This is so sad.

It is always so hard when one of our pets go, as we care so much for them. Their lives depend on us and we were everything they had.
